Medieval returns not as it was—but as it should have been.

This soft launch marks a shift toward focused storytelling, meaningful interaction, and grounded progression. The days of scattered factions and empty empires are gone. What remains is a living world shaped by your characters, your choices, and the stories you complete. With organic map expansion measured with real growth, we are primed and ready to bring forth a new world to conquer once again.


THE CURRENT FOCUS — THE AETHER WARS

All roads now lead to war.

The stage is set between two great powers:

  • The Kingdom of Merelais, fractured but defiant.
  • The Reich of Ostrien, forged into a Holy Osterman Empire.

Between them lies the Blight Lands, where Aether Iron fell from the heavens and warped the land, drawing ambition, and igniting conflict.

From the great city of Par'leau to the iron citadel of Aaven, this region is now the primary area of play.


REGIONAL PLAY — WHERE YOUR STORY MATTERS

While the World Map remains open for exploration, lore, and personal storytelling, all faction mechanics and map progression during the soft launch will take place on a Regional Map centered on:

  • Louressen (Merelais)
  • Annenfeld (Ostrien)
  • The Blight Lands
  • The River Eisen and Eisenford
  • Adjacent Duchies

This ensures:

  • Higher player interaction
  • Meaningful conflict
  • A living, reactive setting

Your story will intersect with others.


FACTIONS DURING SOFT LAUNCH

For this phase, the system is intentionally constrained to build momentum the right way.


MAJOR FACTIONS (NPC ONLY)

Major Factions will exist only as staff-run NPC powers during the soft launch.

These include:

  • Kingdom of Merélais
  • Reich of Ostrien
  • Kingdom of Albion

They serve as:

  • Anchors for the setting
  • Drivers of large-scale conflict
  • Forces that players can influence


MINOR FACTIONS (PLAYER-DRIVEN)

All player-controlled groups will operate through Minor Factions.

These can be:

  • Houses
  • Mercenary bands
  • Guilds
  • Religious orders
  • Warbands
  • Agents, spies, or free companies

This is where the real story begins.


THE VASSAL SYSTEM (YOUR PATH INTO THE WAR)

To participate in map conquest and regional mechanics, factions will operate under a Vassal structure:

  • Align with Merélais or Ostrien
  • Act within their sphere of influence
  • Expand, intrigue, and fight under their banner

This does not limit your origin.

Your character can come from:

  • Ostermannia (Ostrien)
  • Merevingia (Merélais)
  • Albion
  • Nordurlond (Sloanugr, Spajord, or Nordrgard)
  • Eirelunn
  • Elbatirean
  • Atergone
  • Paria
  • Hysparia (Sparna)
  • Anywhere in the world

All that matters is why you are here.

Mercenary contracts, ambition, faith, revenge, discovery—the Aether Wars draw all.


STORY-FIRST DESIGN

This relaunch prioritizes:

  • Completed threads over post count
  • Character-driven stories over faction sprawl
  • Interaction over isolation
  • Consequences over empty expansion

You are not grinding for land.

You are building something that matters.


MINOR FACTIONS — REAL POWER

During the soft launch, Minor Factions are not background players, they are the driving force.

Through your actions, you can:

  • Influence battles between Merélais and Ostrien
  • Shift control of regions
  • Build reputation and alliances
  • Establish footholds in contested land
  • Shape the outcome of the Aether Wars

The giants may clash, but you decide who wins.
