Giancarlo Demici is the acting patriarch of House Demici, and the current manager of the Demici Bank of Florenze.

HISTORY
The Demici name has carried weight for some time, but there are few that have done as much to elevate their status as Giancarlo. Whether it be through his raucous, lively nature, or his shrewd business acumen, Giancarlo has found several ways to help bring the Demici name to the forefront of high society. As a child, he was a bit of a prodigy when it came to finances, a skill that his father had been thankful for. Despite this, Giancarlo always had a rather mischievous side to him, often indulging in drinking and carousing around town with ne'er-do-wells. This complicated his relationship with his father, despite their common ground with the bank. What his father never understood was that, though indulgent as he may be, Giancarlo always kept business and pleasure separate at the end of the day.
When the bank eventually came to him, Giancarlo quickly set to work, increasing the bank's revenue drastically. He in turn invested the earnings into both family and friends, creating a network of individuals that held loyalty to House Demici, or at least to their coin. It was these funds that helped his younger brother Pietro rise through the ranks within the Sanctus, ensuring that there would be a Demici with some level of influence within the halls of the Sancta Sedes. He also took time to join many tournaments throughout the years, using his victories in the lists to further the reputation of his house.
When his children were born, Giancarlo did his best to be a more understanding father to them than his was to him. He has not always been successful in this endeavor, but overall, he believes they turned out better than he has. Together they continue running the family bank, and continue to do their best to grow their wealth and influence as a family.

APPEARANCE
Giancarlo is tall and lanky, but make no mistake, the man is actually quite fit. He hides his ability behind an almost pirate-esque swagger, coming across more like a rowdy sellsword than a proper businessman. His ear is pierced, and his hair curly and well-kempt. He often adorns himself with fine clothes, and occasionally jewelry if he is feeling extra gaudy that day. When in the joust, he can be seen wearing shining, golden armor, as if he wanted to ensure that all eyes were on him.

Giancarlo is the epitome of a big personality, taking up a lot of space in a room (despite his smaller frame). He is jovial, rowdy, and known to be friendly and entertaining overall. Through all of the pleasantries, however, lies a calculating businessman seeking to outmaneuver others through emotional disarmament. He is intelligent, cunning, and absolutely single-minded when it comes to success in any given endeavor.

Though a Curian, Giancarlo plays fast and loose with his spiritual practices. He'd rather ask for forgiveness than permission, a sentiment that has gotten him into hot water more than once. He values family and friendship above all, and will quite literally go to war for those he cares about. There is another side to this coin, however, for if betrayed by one he considered a friend, Giancarlo's wrath knows no bounds. He takes little stock in fealty to kings and emperors, though he also understands the importance of staying in their good graces. In the end, his family and their business come first.
