Description

The Duchy of Oberseaxlund is a bastion of Avenalite Curian faith, military might, and architecture, enriched by vast, arable lands, access to northern coastal waters, and ruled by its third Duke, Otto von Brecht: Crusader, cousin to Emperor Karl, and one of the most powerful dukes of the Ostrien realm. The Duchy maintains a long stretch of the northern borders of the Reich of Ostrien — a stretch that has grown larger in Otto's short reign — keeping watch against the heathens that scratch out an existence further north, and the rising states of the east. Established in 734 ME after the conversion of Muninsvegr and Svarozic pagans in the area, purge of those who resisted conversion, burning of the Goðstokkr, and salting of the earth by order of Emperor Marloman the Great, the Duchy of Oberseaxlund has been presided over by House von Brecht in the years since, from the ducal capital of Altenhof, which encompasses the site where the Goðstokkr once stood.
