ANNALS — RULES & GUIDE
Expand the World of MEDIEVALThe Annals is the living archive of the world.
This is where players contribute lasting lore—from weapons and relics to castles, factions, bloodlines, and legends. Every approved submission becomes part of the setting for others to interact with, build upon, or challenge in roleplay.
This is not just a database.
This is how the world grows.
WHAT CAN BE SUBMITTED
The Annals supports a wide range of creations, including but not limited to:- Items, weapons, relics, and artifacts
- Settlements, castles, regions, and landmarks
- NPCs, units, organizations, and notable figures
- Cultures, traditions, and religions
If it adds depth to the world, it belongs here.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All submissions must:- Use the appropriate Annals template
- Be clearly written and easy to understand
- Fit within the established tone and setting of MEDIEVAL
- Include both strengths and weaknesses where applicable
- Restrain from excessive power, invincibility, or lore-breaking elements.
DEVELOPMENT THREADS
Not all submissions require development—but some do.Use common sense and narrative weight:
- Basic items or flavor lore → No Development required
- Unique items, structures, or organizations → May require a Development thread depending on rarity of materials or magical quality.
- Major or influential creations → Likely require Development
If your submission has been used, built, or discovered in roleplay, link it.
If not, you may still submit, but it should remain grounded in scope.
BALANCE GUIDELINES
To maintain fairness and immersion:- Every strength must have a meaningful weakness
- No "perfect" creations, flaws are required
- Magical or Aether-based elements must carry risk or limitation.
If something cannot realistically be challenged, it does not belong in the Annals.
CANON & SHARED USE
Once approved:- Your submission becomes part of the world.
- Other players may reference or interact with it in roleplay depending on the availability level set forth by the writer, i.e. you.
- Tradable items may be used by others through guilds or narrative.
Respect ownership, but understand:
The world is shared.
PERMISSIONS
You must receive and/or include permissions when:- Using another player's character, faction, or creation.
- Expanding on existing Annals submissions.
- Referencing major events or outcomes involving others.
If in doubt, ask first.
