Like most Osterman realms, Pomegratia is a warlike society - always standing at the ready to fend off all manner of raiders and enemies both within and without. The people within are hardy, strong, and distrustful of outsiders; from the lowest of peasants, to the most auspicious of noblemen. Count Leopold von Aulitz could easily be considered among the foremost of such men,standing as an imposing example of Pomegratian nobility, resolve, and chivalry as he rules over the far eastern county of the realm. Leopold succeeded his late father - Count Paul von Aulitz - after he was killed during a protracted skirmish against eastern raiders attempting to ravage the farmlands under his protection. At the age of 22, Leopold led his bannermen in a heavy-handed campaign of reprisal, delving deep into the wild lands east of their borders.
It did not matter what race, ethnicity, or nationality he and his men came across - if there was even the slightest evidence the people he encountered were involved in raiding of any kind, they and their kind were put to the sword with extreme prejudice. It was said that one could follow the route of his host by simply following the smouldering flames of the farmsteads and townships he burned in his wake. After nearly a year of bloody 'skirmishes', the Count would return to his lands and use his newly acquired wealth to restore the ravaged lands of his father.
As the years would pass, the County of Austerlitz would experience a transformation into the stronghold it is today - cemented by the reputation of its lord, who earned the nickname 'The Lion of Austerlitz' for the dominance and ferocity in which he exacted his vengeance. Today, Austerlitz is considered one of the most well defended counties in Pomegratia, and Count Leopold is considered to be among the most stalwart of the Duchy's defenders; particularly upon his appointment as Lord Marschall of Pomegratia, making him the foremost military commander under the Duke himself.

Physically, Leopold is the image of Osterman genetics. Blonde of hair, hazel eyed, and with a physique seemingly carved from stone - he is not the sort of man to be trifled with lightly.
Ever since his succession to the position of Count and the consolidation of his power during the skirmish he prosecuted against the supposed raiders of his homeland (said skirmishes being known colloquially as 'the Burning War'), Leopold is regarded as a very imposing figure in Osterman politics, but respected nonetheless. While he possesses the reputation for being quick to anger (and for his anger to be very hot, likely due to the aforementioned means in which he exercised his temper), he is widely regarded among his subjects as a just and even-handed ruler; uncompromising in the face of those who break oaths, laws, and peace, yet merciful to the lowliest of his people.
He is also widely respected as an exceptional military commander, specializing in aggressive and brutal heavy cavalry maneuvers combined with light infantry skirmishing and flanking tactics - harkening back to his experience fighting off marauder bands in the open field. Personally, while not unpleasant, Leopold is known as a direct man, who uses few words to get his points across as easily and clearly as possible. He is thus far unwedded, and it is rumored that he is undergoing pressure amongst his inner council to marry soon so as to carry on his family line. It is also rumored that he has fathered a handful of bastards - although this has not been firmly substantiated.
